Artists across the region and further afield are putting the finishing touches to their work, in preparation for the biggest exhibition of new and recent work – the 159th Autumn Exhibition at the RWA.
Unknown, emerging and established artists working in a huge range of styles and media enter their work each year. Almost 2000 pieces of work were entered last year, one third of which made it onto the walls of the RWA galleries.
This year, the selection panel features two invited selectors – Will Gregory, composer and musician from the band Goldfrapp; and Nicholas Usherwood, writer, curator and art critic – along with six RWA Academicians. Prizes include a 10-week course at Bristol Drawing School, paper from St Cuthberts Mill, a selection of art books from Redcliffe Press, as well as several cash prizes of up to £250.
The exhibition itself opens to the public on 30 October and is on until 31 December. All works are for sale.
