As part of our exhibitions series of Academician exhibitions as curated by Academicians we are pleased to announce works by Robert Hurdle RWA will go on display in the Link Space next weekend to coincide with Robert’s 97th Birthday.
Robert Henry Hurdle was born in London on 9th August 1918. He first trained at the Richmond School of Art and then after distinguished war service during World War 2 he studied painting at Camberwell School of Art under Sir William Coldstream and was later senior lecturer at the West of England College of Art ( later called Bristol Polytechnic ). He has exhibited widely across the British lsles and most notably in Hong Kong and the South of France. His most recent solo show was at the Art Room at Topsham, Devon in 2013. His work is featured in many public and private collections including Bristol City Art Gallery and the Royal West of England Academy.
Although trained in the classical style of his generation and reflecting those disciplines and observations Robert has gradually developed his own distinctive and idiosyncratic painting technique through a natural process of curiosity. As well as an ability for living life to the full Robert also enjoys a singular talent for friendship and loyalty and we all look forward to enjoying his 100th birthday celebrations in three years time.
